Saleen's S7
this year's most expensive car, costs $120,000 more than it did last year. According to Manhattan Motorcars, Saleen's New York dealer
thanks to the $652,000 Ferrari Enzo Ferrari, the Saleen S7 tied with the Porsche Carrera GT for second place on this list.
However, California-based Saleen recently upped the horsepower of its flagship supercar to 575 from 550, hence the price increase to $560,000 from $440,000.
The SLR is a supercar developed by Mercedes and McLaren, a racing legend
The SLR McLaren uses a supercharged, 5.4-liter V-8 engine with 671 hp.
The Saleen S7 is not among the newest supercars on the market. Porsche's Carrera GT, however, is.
The Carrera GT, like the S7 and SLR McLaren, is a street-legal racecar. It is the only Porsche with a ten-cylinder engine.
The most expensive non-sports car on the market, the Maybach 62 sedan was designed by owner Mercedes-Benz to be the most luxurious car in the world.
The 62 is also a driver's car, thanks to its twin-turbocharged, 5.5-liter, 543-hp V-12 engine.
The Rolls-Royce Phantom is the newest Rolls-Royce. It was developed from scratch by owner BMW.
BMW sent a design team to Great Britain to study Rolls-Royces of the past and design a car that would combine historic styling and modern technology. The result, the Phantom, has been described as a hodgepodge of ideas as to how a Rolls is supposed to look.
The Maybach 57 has the same engine as the 62, but is shorter and lacks some amenities present on the bigger vehicle.
While Maybachs are often associated with chauffeurs, the longer model (the 62) is perhaps more so--just like the longer Bentley Arnage sedans are designed for those with chauffeurs
Lamborghini makes coupe and convertible versions of its Murciélago flagship. Even if you prefer the slightly more understated and luxurious look and feel of Ferraris, Lambos make for great posters because they look so darn fun to drive.
One of the coolest things about modern Lamborghinis is their use of four-wheel drive, which helps the car adhere to the road in corners, allowing you to speed through turns more quickly.
The V-12 Vanquish, Aston Martin's flagship coupe, is one of the most luxurious cars in the world--as well as one of the sportiest. Like a Bentley or Maybach, it has a virtually endless number of factory options and possibilities for customization.
Aston Martin is owned by Ford Motor.
One of the newest Ferraris, the 612 Scaglietti is the company's flagship coupe.
The Scaglietti features a V-12 engine and a tiny backseat.
The 575M Maranello stands in contrast to the Scaglietti, as it is the oldest Ferrari.
Despite its age (expect a redesign soon), the 575M is still awesome, both in terms of its sexy looks and its V-12 power.
