F-150 Foose Edition
Known for his hot rod designs and as the star of the TV show “Overhaulin’,” Chip Foose has worked with Ford behind the scenes for many years, but with this special Foose Edition F-150, the relationship has gone public.
And as expected, this is no typical F-150. Based on the 2WD FX2 Sport, the truck has been lowered slightly and sits on 22-inch wheels. Large fender flares, wide racing strips on the hood, custom grille and dual exhaust give the Foose F-150 a high-performance look. And this truck has the power to backup those looks.
Under the hood is a 450-horsepower supercharged V8 engine with 500 lb-ft of torque, making this the most powerful truck from Ford since the 2004 F-150 SVT Lightning. The Foose Edition F-150 will go on sale in limited numbers early next year.

Hydra Spyder?
The amphicar: An amphibious vehicle has long been a popular concept.
Seagoing cars have crossed the 21 miles of the English Channel, and armored amphibians have been used by the world's military to launch from ships and become drive-ashore landing craft.
One South Carolina company builds million-dollar motor homes that get seven miles to the gallon boating across lakes, and somewhat better economy on the highway.
The firm Cool Amphibious Manufacturers International also produces an ocean-going Ford Excursion SUV with rear-powered jet drive that can drive into a wave taller than itself, submerge, roll over and power out.
Skycar
The flying car: Shades of the Jetsons, this car is already almost with us.
Dr. Paul Moller has spent 30 years and $200 million creating a reliable "Skycar" that is slated to make its world debut sometime in the next few years.
Moller International, based in Davis, California, has produced a four-passenger 2,200-pound aerial multi-purpose vehicle. You can drive it on the ground at around 35 miles an hour, and then fly it like a humming bird.
The vehicle will take off vertically and fly at up to 350 miles per hour. It has a cruising range of around 800 miles.
So far, the SkyCar has had a couple of dozen test flights, always tethered, none very high, none for more than a minute, under strict FAA rules, but it flew successfully.
About 100 would-be owners are lined up and expect to buy the first models for $1 million. But when the super aerocar goes into production, it should cost only about the same as a midsize luxury vehicle.
The single most significant spin-off technology is the Rotapower engine, a Wankel rotary engine. This engine is now produced and marketed by Freedom Motors
Unique Features of the Rotapower Engine
There are many potential applications for the Rotapower engine.
The recreational marine market is a particular case. Recent studies have shown that marine two-stroke engines produce more unburned hydrocarbons than all the cars, trucks and buses in the U.S.
The EPA agrees with an independent study that shows marine two-stroke engines generate unburned hydrocarbon equal to 40 times the Exxon Valdez oil spill every year.
Worse, these unburned hydrocarbons become carcinogenic and mutagenic during the combustion process. We recently tested a mini-jet boat with a Freedom Rotapower engine installed. The results were spectacular and the Rotapower does not produce the pollution of a two-stroke.
High Power-to-Weight Ratio High Power-to-Volume Ratio Few Moving Parts (High Reliability/Low Maintenance)
Proven Potential for Multi-Fuel Operation Very Low Emission Levels Low Vibration Levels Enhanced Energy at Exhaust (Turbocharge/Co-generation) Modular Design (Low Production Cost)
Electric and Hybrid Smart Cars
The Smart car is not known for its speed but what it is known for is its superb fuel efficiency, which is why we thought it was very strange to hear that there is to be an Electric and Hybrid version of this small Mercedes vehicle.
The electric version will have a 41hp electric motor, which will be able to reach speeds up to 69mph and will have a range of 70 miles.
Charging time for the electric smart car is about 8 hours, and that will cost you about $3 in electric.
Do not expect it to break any land speed records, as the electric Smart will only get from 0-60 in about 19.8 seconds. But that is not what the little car is about, it is about helping our environment by having zero emissions.
The Hybrid Smart MHD or Micro Hybrid Drive has a starter generator, what happens is when the Hybrid Smart car comes to a complete stop or just under 5mph, the gas engine switches off and the electric motor kicks in. The emissions on the Hybrid Smart MHD are thought to be much lower than that of the Toyota Prius.
